    Manual Lymphatic Drainage

    Leduc method

Manual lymphatic drainage uses very light, rhythmic movements in the direction of the lymph nodes. No deep pressure: the lymphatic system sits just beneath the skin and responds to gentleness, not force. Pollyana is trained in the Leduc method, a Belgian technique with a fixed sequence — first clearing the drainage routes, then the area itself. People come for a heavy or swollen feeling in legs or arms, for fluid retention, or after a stretch of sitting still or travelling. If you have lymphoedema or complaints following surgery or cancer treatment, we only work in consultation with your doctor or oedema therapist.

    Frequently asked questions

What's the difference with a regular massage?

The pressure is far lighter and direction is everything. We work towards the lymph nodes, in a steady rhythm. A regular massage targets muscle; lymphatic drainage targets fluid transport just beneath the skin.

Can I come with lymphoedema or after surgery?

Only in consultation with your doctor or oedema therapist — check with them first and tell us what they advise. There are also situations where we don't treat: an active infection or inflammation, thrombosis, heart failure, or an untreated tumour. If you're unsure, give us a call before booking.

How does it feel and what will I notice afterwards?

Surprisingly gentle — many people almost fall asleep. Afterwards you'll usually need to urinate more often, which is exactly the point. Drink a little extra water that day and avoid strenuous exercise right after.
